About this site...

I have had a life threatening illness for seven years. It has brought me down. It has taken most of what I own. I am in debt. Yet, I still see the good in life. Take a look at life through my eyes. There is something wonderful to see everyday, if we stop to look.

About the author...

My name is Steve. My friends call me SOwens. I am a Cushing's Disease survivor. I have fought this disease for years. On January 30th, 2009 I had a radical surgery bilateral adrenalectomy (BLA) in the attempt to cure it. This is my day to day struggle to recover and win. My goal is to tell my story the only way I know how, from the heart.

Please don't cut me...

Screw it, I cut again. I am on 20mg-12.5mg-10mg of steroids now. Got to get down even more! I am going slow because of the symptoms from cutting. The last week or so was ruff trying to stay ahead of the withdraws. At least I think it was withdraw stuff going on. So hard to tell sometimes. You think you got a handle on it sometimes and you really don't.

Learned I don't have Addison's. What I have is Primary Adrenal Insufficiency. Just a name I guess. They both have the exact same effect on the body, one is caused by an auto immune disease. I just got my adrenal's ripped out...so no Addison's Disease for me. Like I said, just a name...

Addison's is more a symptom, but is cause by Primary or Secondary Adrenal insufficiency. I have Secondary Adrenal insufficiency but they call it ACTH deficiency and told me I had hypopituitarism with has the same affect on the body has Secondary Adrenal insufficiency.

I want to slap them. And, hard!!!
